Suspect in parking lot shooting at Walgreens surrenders to police

A suspect surrendered to police without incident Tuesday in the Nov. 21 shooting death of Tommy Jones III in the Walgreens parking lot, Columbus police said.

Brenton Rhasheem Davis, 24, is charged with murder in the death of Jones at 2510 Wynnton Road. He is held in the Muscogee County Jail for a 9 a.m. Friday hearing in Recorder’s Court, police Lt. Greg Touchberry said in a release.

Police were called about 6:15 p.m. to check on a person shot. Jones, 19, was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional midtown campus where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

An investigation into the fatal shooting led to Davis’ arrest at the Public Safety Center.
