BMW driver jailed after racing 130 mph on J.R. Allen Parkway, police say

A Des Moines, Wash., man was jailed just after midnight Friday when his 2008 BMW 335I was spotted racing another vehicle at more than 130 mph on J.R. Allen Parkway, Columbus police said Saturday.

Yi Wei Wan, 44, was taken into custody about 12:10 a.m. on J.R. Allen Parkway at Moon Road. He was charged with one count each of reckless driving and racing and taken to the Muscogee County Jail where he was later released on bond.

Police said the BMW was going more than 130 mph in the 65-mph zone. A passenger in the vehicle said the sports car was traveling about 160 mph.

According to a Car and Driver review on the vehicle, the 300 horse power, twin turbocharged vehicle accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 145 mph.
