2 teens found with a gun and gun clip at Muscogee County school, officials say
Two students were arrested after a gun and gun clip were found Monday at a Columbus public school.
A 17-year-old male was found with a gun and a 15-year-old male was found with a gun clip at Jordan Vocational High School, the Muscogee County School District announced in a news release.
They will face “immediate disciplinary action” by the school district and charges are pending, the release said.
Fellow students reported them to administrators Monday afternoon, according to the news release, and MCSD police investigated.
The items were confiscated without incident, MCSD communications director Mercedes Parham said in the news release.
“We are fortunate that this incident did not result in a situation of graver consequence,” she said. “However, the District takes reports of this matter seriously and will continue to work with law enforcement to ensure protocol involving the safety and privacy of District students and personnel is a top priority.
“We commend the students who reported this violation to administrators in a timely manner and encourage all parents and students to carefully review the Student Code of Conduct in light of this incident.”
