Columbus man arrested on murder charge after fatal shooting at LaGrange motel

A Columbus man was arrested in Montgomery Thursday in connection with a homicide in LaGrange.

Tony Reynoso, 26, is charged with murder in the homicide of Jeffery Flansburg, 31, who was fatally shot Dec. 18.

The homicide occurred around 9:29 p.m. at the Motel 6 located at 1513 LaFayette Parkway, according to a press release from police.

LaGrange officers responded to calls about possible shots fired in the area. Witnesses initially believed the gunshots to be firecrackers until police found Flansburg lying on the sidewalk outside of room 317, according to the release.

Emergency personnel who responded to the scene found gunshot wounds in Flansburg’s neck. He was later pronounced dead at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.

Upon further investigation, officers found that two individuals were involved in an altercation with Flansburg prior to the homicide. According to police, the two individuals were seen leaving the area in a red Chevy Cruze, which was registered to a Columbus resident.

The car was later seized for processing and after police looked through the car, a warrant was later issued for Reynoso’s arrest. A second man, Joshua Osterman, 32, was also arrested Thursday on a murder charge after turning himself in to the LaGrange Police Department.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603, Troup County Crimestoppers at 706-812-1000, or 911.
