Columbus man charged in 32nd Avenue homicide of 13-year-old boy
Police have made an arrest in the 32nd Avenue homicide that occurred on Jan. 17 in Columbus.
Jaquayvius Jones, 19, was charged with murder Thursday after turning himself in on unrelated charges to the Muscogee County Jail on Jan. 18, according to police.
Jones is charged in the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Jamareion Davis, which occurred just before 8 p.m. in the 800 block of 32nd Avenue in Columbus.
Davis was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 8:59 p.m. by Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton.
Jones’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday in Recorder’s Court, but will likely be rescheduled to 9 a.m. Jan. 30.
