One killed, one wounded by gunfire Sunday night in Columbus

One man was killed and another seriously wounded by gunfire Sunday night, Columbus police said Monday.

Neither victim’s identity was disclosed.

Officers first were called around 8 p.m. to Patsy Lane and Walker Street, where they found a 27-year-old wounded. He was taken by ambulance to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he was listed in critical condition, authorities said.

Soon after, police were dispatched to 2464 Rice St., where they found a 34-year-old man wounded. He too was taken to Piedmont, where Deputy Coroner Charles Newton pronounced him dead at 10:44 p.m. His next of kin had not been notified.

Homicide detectives currently are investigating both cases.
