Columbus police make arrest in Thanksgiving homicide on Cusseta Road. Here’s more.

Columbus police have made an arrest in a Thanksgiving 2019 homicide that left one man dead.

Tyrone Washington, 45, was arrested Tuesday on unrelated charges and booked into the Muscogee County Jail, according to a press release from the Columbus Police Department. Detective Jason Carden obtained arrest warrants for Washington on March 3 for the incident that happened on Thanksgiving of last year.

Around 11:48 p.m. Nov. 28, Columbus police responded to an area in the 2000 block of Cusseta Road. When police arrived they found Grady Williams, 54, dead from a single gunshot.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan pronounced Willams dead just before 12:30 a.m. Nov. 29. According to Bryan, Williams had just gotten out of his car and was holding a Styrofoam container of food when he was shot.

Washington, who had warrants for both murder and possession of a firearm, will appear in Recorder’s Court at 9 a.m. Friday.
