Opelika man charged with murder in weekend stabbing death
An Opelika man has been arrested and charged with murder in the stabbing death of another man in Beauregard, Alabama.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in the 100 block of Lee Road 621 on March 21 in reference to a stabbing, and found Joel Lynn Pouncey, 30, of Cusseta, laying in the yard.
He was unresponsive and suffered a stab wound to the chest, according to a press release.
Pouncey was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where he later died of his injury, police said. A knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene.
Police arrested Taylor Rhea Sanders, 28, in connection with the stabbing death. He is currently being held in the Lee County jail on a $150,000 bond.
