Columbus man charged with murder in February shooting on Fifth Avenue

Columbus police have made in arrest in a February shooting on Fifth Avenue in Columbus that left a 29-year-old man dead.

According to a press release, Nico Fitzpatrick, 31, was arrested on Tuesday with the help of the US Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Columbus Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit.

Fitzpatrick is charged with murder in the Feb. 11 shooting that occurred just after 9:30 a.m. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan pronounced Ronnie Jackson, 29, dead at Piedmont Columbus Regional at 10:26 a.m. the same morning.

According to Bryan, Jackson was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Fitzpatrick’s first appearance in Recorder’s Court will be at 9 a.m. Thursday.
