Columbus police looking for suspect who reportedly stole elderly man’s wallet at Walmart

Columbus police are looking for an individual they say robbed an elderly male while waiting for his groceries to be delivered to his vehicle.

Around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday at the Walmart store located at 3515 Victory Drive, a suspect came up to the elderly male’s vehicle asking for some money to purchase food, according to a CPD press release. The elderly male opened his wallet to get money for the individual, when the suspect reached into the vehicle and attempting to grab it.

The victim and suspect fought over control of the wallet, but ultimately the suspect grabbed it and fled on foot, according to police.

The suspect is a male last seen wearing all black and a black durag, according to surveillance footage photos provided by police.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Sergeant Ray Mills at 706-225-4259.
