Columbus police identify 16-year-old boy shot and killed at Wilson Apartments

Police have released the identity of the person shot and killed Friday in Columbus.

Deputy Coroner Charles Newton said 16-year-old LaMarion Wright died Friday from a gunshot wound.

The incident took place at the Wilson Apartments at 3400 Eighth Ave. Columbus police responded to reports of a shooting in the area around 3 p.m.

Officers found Wright face down on Belmont Street with a gunshot wound. The report did not say where he had been shot. Wright later died of his injuries.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted Tuesday in Atlanta.

The case is still under investigation. Police are looking for two suspects in the homicide.
