Second arrest made in April Cusseta Road shooting that killed 60-year-old man

A second individual has been arrested in the shooting death of a 60-year-old man in Columbus in April.

31-year-old Antoine Davis was arrested in a traffic stop by Georgia State Patrol in Stewart County just before 6:45 a.m. Saturday, according to police. Davis was arrested on his outstanding murder warrant for an incident that occurred on April 26.

Police were called to the 2000 block of Cusseta Road around 4:30 a.m. that day in reference to a shooting and vehicle crash with an unresponsive male. Officers found Richard Watson and his vehicle had been shot at multiple times, according to Recorder’s Court testimony.

Watson later died of a gunshot wound to his upper left leg. Further Recorder’s Court testimony revealed that police believed three individuals had been involved in Watson’s death.

One individual, 32-year-old Frankie Walker, is currently in the Muscogee County Jail with no bond, charged with one count of murder. He appeared in court on May 20.

Davis’ Recorder’s Court hearing will be on May 26 at 9 a.m.
