Phenix City woman dies in fatal Lee County crash

A Phenix City woman is dead after a two-car wreck Saturday on Alabama 169, the Alabama Highway Patrol Division said in a press release.

Melissa Nicole Moss, 39, was a passenger in a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt when the car crossed the center line and collided with a 2013 Volkswagen GTI, according to the release.

The wreck occurred at the 16-mile marker about 12 miles south of Opelika.

Moss, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Information on the drivers of the vehicles was not immediately available.

Highway Patrol is investigating.
