Columbus police charge suspect with murder, armed robbery in shooting of Alabama man

Columbus police have made an arrest in connection with the June 22 homicide of Travis Henry.

Terreona Horton, 20, was arrested Monday on charges of murder and armed robbery, according to a release from the Columbus Police Department.

Horton’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, July 9 in Recorder’s Court.

Investigators expect more arrests in this case, according to the release.

Police called at 7:19 a.m. June 22 to 17th Avenue at Nina Street found Henry, from Alabama, dead from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 7:42 a.m. that morning.

Investigators determined his body had been dumped in the street.

The victim had no identification on him, so detectives initially did not know who he was. His fingerprints were submitted to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which identified Henry through a database.

Anyone with information regarding this homicide is encouraged to contact Cpl. Sherman Hayes at (706) 225-4268 or email shayes@columbusga.org.
