Police ask public for information after Wednesday night homicide in Benning Hills

Columbus police are investigating a homicide that occurred around 8:04 p.m. Wednesday in the Benning Hills neighborhood.

According to a release from Sgt. Jeff Kraus, patrol units responded to shots fired in the area of Lafayette Drive and Patton Drive.

They found Deondray Lamar Williams, 26, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Kraus. EMS were unable to resuscitate Williams and he later died. The Columbus Police Department Homicide Unit was called to begin the investigation.
