Columbus police looking for possible suspect in weekend shooting at Peachtree Mall

Columbus police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a possible suspect in a shooting at Peachtree Mall on Saturday.

The Columbus Police Department’s Robbery and Assault Unit is investigating the alleged armed robbery and aggravated assault, which they report occurred at 12:39 p.m. at the mall on Manchester Expressway.

Police responded to reports of gunshots at the mall and found one person suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Corporal Aaron Evrard. The person was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

Evrard said the victim was not an employee of the mall. He could not comment on if anything was taken from the victim or if police are searching for more than one suspect.

Anyone with information about the suspect or potential witnesses are encouraged to contact Evrard at 706-225-4264 or 706-225-3400.
