Shooting near Columbus gas station leaves one dead, another in serious condition

A Thursday morning shooting at a gas station in Columbus left one man dead and another individual in serious condition, according to police.

Around 3 a.m., Columbus police were dispatched to a BP gas station, located at 3921 Buena Vista Road. According to a press release, officers found 26-year-old Alex Bales-Davis suffering from gunshot wounds. They also discovered a 23-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Bales-Davis later died of his injuries at the scene. Officers are investigating his death as a homicide.

The woman was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional in serious condition, police said.

An investigation determined that the shooting took place at the intersection of Brennan Road and St. Mary’s Road, according to the press release. No information is currently available on a possible suspect in the case.
