GBI rules death of 3-month-old infant as homicide, Muscogee County coroner says

The March death of a 3-month-old infant has been ruled as a homicide, authorities said Monday.

The infant, Jamier Roberts, died at the Piedmont Columbus Pediatric Emergency Room on March 30 at 12 a.m., Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said.

The body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy where it was confirmed that Roberts died of blunt impact injuries to the head and head trauma inflicted by others, Bryan said.

CPD’s Homicide Unit is currently investigating.

This incident will bring the total homicide count for 2021 in Columbus to 57.
