Man shot in southeast Columbus dies days later in ICU, coroner says

A man shot in southeast Columbus Friday died from his injuries over the weekend, authorities said Monday.

Itavious Jones, 24, was shot Friday near Watkins Drive and Lamore Street, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan told the Ledger-Enquirer.

Jones died Sunday night in the intensive care unit of Piedmont Columbus Regional hospital, Bryan said.

This is the city’s 63rd homicide of 2021.

Columbus’ 62nd homicide occurred Saturday night when 20-year-old Lekeith Epps was shot at Wilson Homes apartments on Eighth Avenue.
