Lee County teacher arrested for allegedly taking inappropriate pictures of student

A Smiths Station High School teacher was arrested for allegedly taking inappropriate pictures of a female student during school hours.

David Edward Gregory, a 60-year-old Opelika resident, was charged with one count of first-degree voyeurism Thursday. Lee County school resource deputies became aware of the allegations and gathered evidence earlier in the day.

Gregory was arrested Thursday evening. He posted bail later that night, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected, officials said.
