Troup County School System discovers $250,000 in deposited fraudulent checks
Troup County School System found $250,000 in fraudulent checks while reconciling bank records, according to a press release. TCSS said the checks were deposited from across the country between October and November of this year.
The LaGrange Police Department has been put in charge of the case, and Truist Bank is currently undergoing an internal investigation according to the release.
Additional safeguards have been placed on all TCSS accounts by the TCSS finance department.
TCSS said a fraud report is expected to be opened.
