Man pleads not guilty in January killing of man at homeless encampment in Columbus
“Really Ty? You’re going to pull a gun out on me?” were the last words of a man killed in Columbus homeless camp, according to witness statements to detectives.
Quincy “Ty” Hill, 36, pleaded not guilty in Columbus Recorder’s Court to the Jan. 15 killing of Kameron Holcey in a Third Avenue homeless camp.
Two witnesses told detectives they saw Hill and Holcey, 23, get into a verbal argument prior to the shooting, according to testimony by Columbus Police Department Det. Robert Nicholas.
Hill admitted to the verbal altercation but told police he was a few blocks away at the time of the shooting, Nicholas testified.
Nicholas said neither witness saw Hill shoot Holcey that morning around 3 a.m.
Hill was arrested at Phenix City hotel on Feb. 2 and extradited to Columbus on Feb. 3. The case has been bound over to Superior Court with no bond set.
