One man dead in fifth Columbus homicide since Friday morning

One man is dead following a shooting Sunday afternoon in the area of Village Way and St. Mary’s Road, according to Columbus police.

The victim was 15-year-old Leonardo Kentrell Luke, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

This marks the fifth homicide in the area since Friday morning. CPD officers were called to the scene at 1:56 p.m. Sunday to find the male victim, who has yet to be identified, with a gunshot wound to the head.

The latest confirmed homicide is the city’s fifth since Friday morning. Two other people are currently listed in critical condition after a shooting Saturday night at a local Motel 6 that left two dead.

Another shooting Friday night left nine juveniles, all under the age of 18, injured. The youngest victim was a 5-year-old.
