One man is dead in overnight shooting on Surrey Lane in Columbus, officials say

One man is dead following a shooting in the 3600 block of Surrey Lane early Monday morning, according to officials.
This is the 30th homicide in Columbus this year, according to a list compiled by the Ledger-Enquirer.
Scotty Lee Harris, 53, suffered a gunshot wound during the shooting, which occurred some time around 12:30 a.m. to 1 a.m., according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit Responded to the scene and is investigating, according to the department’s Twitter account.
No other details about the shooting were available immediately.
