One man is dead after being stabbed in the chest Sunday night in Columbus, police say
One man is dead following a stabbing late Sunday night in the 100 block of 31st avenue, according to police.
The victim has been identified as Brandon Tells, 23, who was stabbed in the chest, according to officials.
Tells was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. at a local hospital, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
Police say Erin Smithson, 23, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
This is at least the 35th homicide in Columbus this year, according to a list compiled by the Ledger-Enquirer.
This is the second homicide to occur over the weekend after a shooting Saturday that left 31-year-old Delarance Jones dead.
At least 5 shootings were reported since Friday leaving 4 people injured and one (Jones) dead, according to the Columbus Police Department Twitter page.
