A two-car collision in Chambers County, Ala., Friday has left one woman dead and a man in critical condition.
At around 7:10 p.m. CST, Sophia Bailey, 58, was travelling in her vehicle on Highway 50 when it collided with a vehicle driven by Richard Smith, 41.
“One of the vehicles got on the wrong side of the road,” said Cpl. Steve Norred of the Alabama State Troopers post in Opelika.
Both were air-lifted to The Medical Center in Columbus. Bailey, of Lafayette, Ala., died about 9:30 p.m. As of Friday night, Smith was still in critical condition, Norred said.
Both drivers had their seatbelts on. The accident is still under investigation.
