Columbus police are investigating a case of online stolen identity.
Officers say a 34-year-old Joyner Drive resident has informed them that someone opened two accounts in her name at Wachovia Bank.
The victim already had two accounts at Wachovia, but just discovered that on Jan. 8, a thief went online and opened both a checking and a savings account in her name, changing the address of record to one on Delfair Drive.
The crime came to light Thursday when the woman tried to withdraw cash from a bank machine and discovered that the account was restricted. She then went inside the Wachovia Branch on Whittlesey Boulevard to find out what had happened.
