Man linked to party shooting arrested

A 17-year-old from Phenix City accused of opening fire at a spring break party is in custody.

Eddie Cochran was arrested Tuesday in Phenix City and transferred Wednesday to Columbus, said Columbus Police Lt. Lynn Joiner. Police have linked him to the April 12 shooting at 5000 Burnham Blvd., off the Warm Springs Connector.

Four teens were hit in the 2 a.m. shooting. Joiner said that day. At least two weapons were involved — a pistol and a shotgun. Joiner said Wednesday that Cochran shot two people with a shotgun.

Cochran is charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

None of the teens seriously was injured.
