Columbus Police Department and Muscogee County School District Police Department officers arrived Thursday morning at Columbus High School to investigate a “potentially concerning social media communication,” MCSD communications director Kimberly Wright told the Ledger-Enquirer.

“Out of an abundance of caution, protocols involving law enforcement response were initiated,” she said in an email responding to the Ledger-Enquirer’s questions.

MCSD didn’t say what was in the post. Wright said there were no lockdowns and the school is operating as normal.

Six CPD and six MCSD officers responded at around 10 a.m., Wright said. As of her email at 12:48 p.m., police still were investigating, she said. No injuries and no arrests or criminal charges have been reported.

“All students and staff are safe,” she said. “We take the safety and welfare of students and staff seriously. The case remains under investigation and there are no further details at this time.”
