Teen pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter; murder charge dropped

Curtis Adams was 16 years old when police first accused him of murder.

On Monday, the now 18-year-old pleaded guilty to the voluntary manslaughter of John O’Neal, the Muscogee County Superior Court Clerk’s Office said.

Judge John Allen sentenced Adams to six years in prison, followed by nine on probation, for the Dec. 27, 2008, death of O’Neal.

Adams shot O’Neal during an argument at Victory Crossing Apartments, 3390 N. Lumpkin Road.
