A man accused of touching and kissing a young boy pleaded guilty to child molestation on Monday.
Steven Jakab, 35, was sentenced to seven years in prison, followed by eight on probation, after pleading guilty before Muscogee County Superior Chief Court Judge John Allen, records state.
“That was done so the child wouldn’t have to testify, and that was a wish of the family,” said Senior Assistant District Attorney Don Kelly.
A count of aggravated child molestation against Jakab was dropped.
Court records state that Jakab touched the boy, who was younger than 16 at the time, between June 16 and June 19.
