Man charged with trafficking in meth after vehicle stopped

The elite Special Operations Unit seized almost 6 ounces of methamphetamine Thursday and arrested a 35-year-old man after stopping a car on Warm Springs Road, Columbus police said.

Carrencoledias Adams, 35, was taken into custody about 1:40 a.m. after agents stopped a Chevy Impala he was driving, police said. He is held in the Muscogee County Jail for a Recorder's Court hearing this morning.

Police started watching a pickup on King Williams Road after a confidential land reliable informant said an amount of meth was located there. While under police watch, the man was spotted approaching the pickup and removing an item.

After entering a car with the item and leaving the location, agents stopped the vehicle and discovered the meth with a street value of $16,900.

The meth bust remains under investigation.
