Man charged with firing gun near Samson Avenue during argument

Shauen Morrison told officers he was just "messing around" when he pointed a gun at a woman and then fired a shot in the air during an argument near Samson Avenue, according to court testimony.

The 29 year old faced charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, pointing a gun, discharging a firearm in city limits and reckless conduct during a Monday morning Recorder's Court hearing.

Officers told the court they responded to the intersection of Samson Avenue and Hood Street around 3:15 a.m., Sunday after receiving reports that shots were fired in the area. When they arrived, a woman told police Morrison confronted her inside her vehicle. During the argument, Morrison pulled out a gun and briefly pointed it at her, an officer told the court.

Morrison later exited the vehicle and fired a shot in the air. No injuries were reported.

Judge Michael Cielinski ordered Morrison to either pay a $250 fine or spend 30 days confinement in the Muscogee County Jail for the discharging a firearm charge. Morrison's remaining bond was set at $11,000.
