Report: Threats prompt child to bite mother's boyfriend

A protective 5-year-old boy bit his mother's boyfriend on the hand after the 31-year-old man began making threatening motions toward the 25-year-old woman Tuesday, according to a Columbus police report.

The couple were lounging on the bed in their Matthews Street home with their two children when the victim allegedly "mushed" Michael King's feet off the bed. He then sprang up and began yelling while making threatening motions.

The victim, who told police she feared for her life, said her child leaped on King and bit his hand. While King swatted the child away, the victim called police.

King told officers he did not mean to scare his girlfriend, but was just upset. He was charged with domestic violence simple assault and taken to the Muscogee County Jail.
