Columbus Police: Man and woman hit with pistol, robbed on 29th Street

A Columbus police report says a man and woman were the victims of an armed robbery and aggravated assault Saturday on 29th Street.

Both were struck in the head with a pistol several times and were taken by ambulance to Midtown Medical Center.

The police report did not list an amount of money taken from the man.

The woman's floral colored wallet valued at $20 was stolen.

The incident occurred between 12:57 a.m. and 1:07 a.m.

It happened outside near the 29th Street Recreation Center.

The man said he was walking the woman to her home when the assailant came out and demanded money.

The man said stitches were needed for the cuts on his head.
