Report: Man threatens to shoot fiance after anniversary

When his 32-year-old fiance's nephews thwarted his anniversary plans, a 33-year-old man allegedly beat and threatened to shoot her, according to a Columbus police report.

Eddie Pitts III was standing near the end of the 5700 block Blueridge Drive driveway with a juvenile of undisclosed age when officers arrived Tuesday around 2:15 a.m., according to the report. The suspect went inside on seeing the officer.

Police spoke with the victim, who told officers Pitts started arguing with her earlier in the evening when he became upset that her nephews were at the residence. She told officers that Monday marked their first year together, and he wanted to "just spend time with her and no other persons."

During the argument, Pitts is accused of becoming violent and striking the victim several times. He threatened to shoot her in front of her son, according to the report.

Pitts was charged with family violence aggravated assault and third degree cruelty to children. He was taken to Muscogee County Jail.
