Columbus police searching for murder suspect

Columbus police has confirmed that a man injured earlier this week during a shooting at Big Cat gas station died Saturday afternoon at Midtown Medical Center.

John S. Jones, 31, was found suffering from three gunshot wounds at the 2997 Buena Vista Road gas station around 7:38 p.m. Thursday. Jones was transported to Midtown Medical Center where he was rushed into surgery.

On Saturday, Jones was pronounced dead of the gunshot wound at the Midtown Medical Center.

A murder warrant was issued for Chandler Quentin Saxton, the suspect in the case.

Police initially released an aggravated assault warrant for Saxton after investigating Thursday's shooting. Saxton is described as a 35-year-old black man who is 5-foot-8 and weighs 150 pounds. He has brown eyes and short black hair above his ears.
