A 24-year-old Columbus man tried to steal 10 PlayStation 4 controllers and other video-game related items Thursday afternoon from the Walmart on Gateway Road, according to a Columbus police report.
Sean Martin was charged with theft by shoplifting.
Police say Martin was seen with two men's fleece jackets, 10 PS4 game controllers, three video games and two battery charger packs in his shopping cart before he pushed it to the rear of the garden center.
Walmart's asset prevention officer told police he saw Martin put the electronic items on the outside of the fence. Martin said his unnamed friend was supposed to pick up the items, police reported.
The total value of the items was $666.46, which made Martin's charge a felony. He was taken to the Muscogee County Jail.
