Columbus Police: Man chases men who tried to rob him

A 26-year-old Columbus man told police he chased two men who tried to rob him.

According to the police report, the man returned to his home on Plateau Drive around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday.

He said that after he parked his car in the driveway, two men in a gold Chevrolet Blazer pulled up in front of his home and the driver pointed a gun at him and demanded money.

The man told them he did not have any and the man with the gun then demanded the keys to the victim's car.

The victim cussed at the men and went into his home.

When the men drove off, he got into his car and followed them. He lost contact with their vehicle near the Big Cat Gas Station on North Lumpkin Road.

He told police the driver was a tall, skinny black male with dreadlocks and the other was a black male.

The man told police that the man in the passenger seat had a rifle.

He told police he could not get the license plate number.

The investigation continues.
