An 18-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a shooting victim at Wilson Apartments, according to the Columbus Police Department.

Police announced Tuesday that Jadarious Greene was detained more than a year after 21-year-old Javon Smith was shot and killed at the apartment complex. Greene was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service and was expected to appear in court Wednesday morning. He’s also charged with possessing a gun during the commission of a crime.

Smith was found shot late at night on Sept. 11, 2023, according to CPD. Emergency medical services showed up to the scene and tried to revive him, but they couldn’t keep him alive. He was pronounced dead just after midnight on Sept. 12.
