Alleged 29th Street playground shooter to appear in State Court

The Columbus teen who told police he accidentally shot his friend Friday in the 500 block of a 29th Street playground posted bond before his scheduled Tuesday Recorder's Court hearing.

Darius Pike, 17, was originally scheduled to face reckless conduct and possession of a pistol by a person under 18 during a 9 a.m. hearing. He is now set to appear for a May 1 arraignment, according to the Columbus Consolidated Government Center.

Police said in a report that the victim is a Double Churches Middle School, and he was later treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the right leg at the Midtown Medical Center following the 8:34 p.m. shooting.

On Sunday, Officers followed up on the incident in the 800 block of Arlington Drive at 5:40 p.m., police said in a report.
