Valley police investigating after possible human remains found near former mill complex

Valley Police are investigating after possible human remains, including a skull, were found in the woods near the Riverview area, according to a news release from the department.

The release states the remains were found in the woods at the end of Mill Street near the former Riverdale Mill complex.

Responding officers found what appeared to be human bones which included a skull, according to the release.

The Department of Forensic Sciences responded with a crime scene unit and forensic pathologist after a call for assistance was made due to the condition of the remains, the release says.

The release says the sex of the victim is unknown and a cause of death had not been determined as of Thursday.

“Recovery and processing are still ongoing, and more information will be furnished at a later date,” the release says.
