Auburn man steals from sleeping resident in early March

A 20-year-old man has been accused of stealing from a sleeping resident's Wright Street home March 2, according to an Auburn Police Division press release.

Aaron J. Hippely of Auburn was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree theft of property. He was transported to the Lee County Jail and is eligible for an $8,000 bond, police said in the release.

Police say Hippely allegedly entered a residence in the 100 block of Wright Street and took a wallet that held credit cards and a $100 electronic device. At the time, the victim was sleeping inside of the home, Auburn officials stated.

Officers also learned that Hippely was reportedly captured on camera using one of the stolen credit cards at a local ATM.
