The Troup County Sheriff's Office is in the midst of one of its more unusual cases.
Within the past two weeks, deputies have received about six to eight reports about an unknown suspect stealing rocking chairs near West Point Road, Sgt. Stewart Smith of the Sheriff's Office said. The suspect known to lift the seating equipment straight from his or her victims' porch.
The office warned the public about the repetitive offenses on its Facebook page, stating that those with information should call investigators at (706) 883-1616 or Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000 to report it.
Smith said Troup County authorities "don't have any idea" at this time why the offender would want to steal the seating furniture, but the case remains under investigation.
