A Phenix City man sustained injuries twice today after his bicycle collided with a vehicle on Summerville Road, Phenix City police said.
The man, 26, was taken to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus after the 6 a.m. accident in the 3600 block of Summerville Road. He was treated in the intensive care unit at the hospital.
Police were first called to the area to check on a vehicle and bicycle collision when officers learned that the man was run over by a second vehicle after the initial impact. The second vehicle, described as a red or maroon sedan, fled from the scene after the impact.
Police said the collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the vehicle should call police at 334-298-0611.
