Man pistol whipped during carjacking on East Lindsay Drive

Officials say a 50-year-old man was pistol whipped early Friday morning during a carjacking at his East Lindsay Drive home.

The victim was taken to the Midtown Medical Center and treated for head injuries stemming from the 6:30 a.m. attack that occurred in the 1300 block of East Lindsay Drive, according to Columbus Police Sgt. Art Sheldon.

Sheldon said police are still working to identify the man who assaulted the victim and stole his maroon 1993 Toyota Camry, which has a 2015 Georgia tag that reads BFW9439.

The suspect was described as a black man between 40 to 45 years old who wore a black skull or stocking cap and dark clothing during the incident, Sheldon said.

Police were called to the victim's residence Friday at 6:45 a.m. in reference to the offense.

The case remains under investigation.
