Columbus Police: Woman threatened by man who fired handgun

A Columbus woman told police she was threatened by a man who fired a handgun.

According to the police report, the incident occurred Saturday at 2:10 a.m. outside an apartment on Torch Hill Road.

The 35-year-old woman told officers that a man she only knows as "Steve" threatened to shoot her and then took out a handgun that he fired next to her left ear.

Steve was there to participate in a game of dice with the woman and her friends. The woman told officers that Steve became drunk and belligerent and threatened to burn the house down.

The woman told officers that Steve left and it was when he returned and she told him he was not welcome at the house that he threatened to kill her.

She said that after firing the shot, Steve left.

The woman's mother was at the scene and told officers, "I can't believe he came back over here with a gun."

The investigation continues.
