An early morning Saturday robbery on Valley Forge Drive left its 55-year-old Columbus victim crying and visibly nervous, according to reports.
An unknown 5-feet-8 tall man wearing black clothing struck her in the back of the head and stole her purse Saturday outside of her residence in the 900 block of Valley Forge Drive at about 3:40 a.m., Columbus police said. She didn't have any visible injures and declined medical treatment following the offense, police said.
An officer was called to the scene Saturday at about 3:50 a.m. in response to the robbery and saw the woman upset.
She told police that she was fumbling with her car keys when the offender struck her in the back of the head. She stumbled forward, and the man took the $10 purse hanging from her left shoulder, authorities said. She eventually lost her balance and fell to the ground, and that's when she noticed the suspect fleeing east on Gettysburg Way, police said in the report.
Her bank card, driver's license and social security card were in her purse during the robbery, officials said.
