A Columbus woman told police she had only left her $8,000 Chevy Impala unattended for 15 minutes Wednesday when someone stole it from the Shirley Winston Park at 5025 Steam Mill Road.
Police have not listed any suspects in the police report, but the only individual who said they witnessed the theft identified who they believed to be the offender.
Officials said they have yet to arrest anyone in the case.
Authorities were called to Northstar Drive Wednesday in response to a report of a stolen vehicle and spoke with the 22-year-old Columbus victim.
She informed police that she left her gold 2001 Chevy Impala in the south parking lot at 5025 Steam Mill Road at 6:15 p.m., and headed into the gym to workout. She went back to her vehicle 15 minutes later, when she realized she had forgotten her workout pants.
When she returned to the parking lot, her vehicle was missing.
The woman told police that she left her car keys inside of her car.
The stolen vehicle has a 2015 Georgia tag that reads "PYU8000."
