A Columbus police officer was transported to the Midtown Medical Center following an early Friday hit-and-run incident that occurred on Buena Vista Road, Columbus Police Maj. J.D. Hawk said.
The officer, who complained of pain, was treated and released, Hawk said.
Officers are still searching for the driver who rear-ended the patrol car at about 3 a.m. as the officer was traveling along Buena Vista Road near I-185. After the crash, the suspect fled the scene on foot, and the unspecified vehicle the suspect was driving was placed in police custody, Hawk said.
Authorities did not provide a description of the driver.
